I have visited many cities, especially in Europe, London, Paris, Rome, Reykjavik, Venice, Berlin and Florence to name but a few and one of the reasons for visiting any city is to admire the architectural highlights they have to offer, be it Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower or one of the many cathedrals and palaces that are open to the public. In recent decades we have built many modern works of art, some extravagant, some that are purely functional, there is something for every ones taste.

Many company’s, banks, insurance brokers and big name manufacturers have built massive complexes, mainly office blocks or headquarters for astronomical amounts of money to show what they have and make their mark on city skylines, a good example is Swiss Re Insurance in London with the “Gherkin”, an impressive landmark to be seen from almost everywhere in the city. Not only modern architecture is of interest, castles and country houses make good days out too.

Did You Know?

Architects are constantly working with other consultants and projects teams from different parts of the world. Sometimes they can even be collaborating with other local architects if the project is far away from their home base office. Other than architects, they are also working with engineers, lighting consultants, facade manufacturers, furniture designers, etc.
